N.Z. CROWN MINES RETURN.
Owing to the landslip the N.Z. Crown Mines battery ran for a couple of months prior to cleaning up, the stampers being idle for about 10 days during the month of June. Since last return 4724 tons of ore were treated for a return of bullion worth £11,123. This brings up the total output to £371,034.
CHELMSFORD.
The mine manager report, that during the past week works In progress had chiefly been confined to stoping on the No. 1 reef from the No. 1 level, and stoping on the No. 2 reef at the top level. On the No. 1 reef, at the No. 1 level, three stopes are being worked, and the ore broken is being sent to the mill. The .quality is somewhat above the average of that treated last month. The ,ore being broken from the No. 2 reef shows free gold occasionally in the stone; this ore will be crushed first thing next week.
TAIRUA BROKEN HILL.
The low level upon the reef has been extended a further 10 feet, and for the first six feet the reef was poor in quality, but for the la»t four feet the prospects have greatly improved and the ore is now highly payable. The rise is now up 40 feet, and for the past week the reef has been small, but is now fully 20 inches wide of payable quartz. Owing to firewood not being to hand crushing ■ will not be started before the end of next week. About 70 tons of ore are awaiting treatment. The contractor is making good progress with the water race, and the tram line is being laid to the New Year
