CITY LOAN POLL.
The polling in the eight proposals to borrow sums aggregating £100,----000 for city improvements Avas proceeding to-day at the following booths: —East Ward, Charitable Aid Board offices; North Ward, Central Mission Hall; South Ward, St. James' Hall; Grafton Ward, St. Sepulchre's schoolroom; and Ponsonby Ward, AJI Saints' schoolroom. The poll opened at 9 a.m.. and through the morning the greatest apathy was shown by voters, it being estimated that up to noon only 500 votes had been polled altogether. No doubt during the later part of the day, in view of the great importance and in-' terests involved in the loan proposals, greater activity will be manifested by burgesses, aud the number of voters should be considerably augmented. The polling closes at 7 p.m.. and the result of the voting should" be made known a couple of hours later.
