HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The Charitable Aid Board met at 2 o'clock to - day. Present: Messrs A. Bruce (Chairman), J. Gordon, Y. Warren, J. Walters, J. Sticbbury, J. <■>• Garland, J. Jamieson, and A. P. Friend. Hospital.—Mr Stichbury commented upon the fact that the returns from the hospitals of the colony showed no less than 50 per cent, more deaths in the Auckland Hospital as compared with that of Wellington. It was something dreadful to contemplate. The figures showed that during- the ■viar 1494 patients were admitted to the Auckland Hospital, of whom 145 died while at Wellington 1584 patients were admitted, of which number only 95 died Wellington Hospital was evidently better managed.-Mr Warren said Auckland had more deaths owing to the number of chronic cases that reached the Hospital from ■ the gumfldds and bush mills-Mr Stichbury said he thought the Inspector ot Hospitals should pay more attention to fhT Auckland Hospital, and it anything was wrong, give the Board the 3!-^.^ ChristohSh Hospital Board wrote advocattTa central home hi each island for ° 11 a in,! chronic cases not sune°d°"r ho pS t^eut. such hon.es t, be aide? the control of the Gototj^To lara.-™swIara.-™swa Psseeonaed b yM r Garland and agreed to.
