WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.

The Waikato County Council met to-day. Amounts duo to the contractor, engineer, and overseer in connection with the Wangam.irino bridge were passed for payment. jSJtfMg'htering Ilucnses were granted to ueo. Siarr, and to Graves and Green. The. debii balance of the Council after paying accounts, amounting to £230, Wii.s reported at £348.
The funeral of the late Mr Thomas Kirk, jitii., who died ai Giaborne from injuries sustained in a football match, uuk held at Hamilton yesterday on arrival of the train, and was one of the largest ever held here. People were present from all partn of tlia Waikalo and Waipa districts, and representatives were pvusitnl from football and all other athletic bodies in the district. The coffin was hidden in numberless wreaths. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Major.
