ACCIDENT TO THE TOMOANA.

GISBORNE, Sunday.
T(he urgent necessity of a resurvey of the bay was shown in an unfortunate way Last night. The Tyser liner Tomoana bumped heavily while lying at anchor on wfhat the chart shows to be perfectly safe ground. The vessel is making a little water in ihc double bottom, and proceeds to Napier to-night for examination, there being no appliances for the purpose at Gisborne. The steamer did not load frozen meat, but is to return later on. There is no apparent damage to the cargo.
NAPIER, this day.
The s.b. Tomoana arrived in the bay at ten o'clock, and a diver proceeded out for the purpose of making an examination as to the extent of the damage caused by bumping the bottom at Gisborne. The1 weather, however, was too rough to permit the diver descending, and after discharging cargo the Tomoana wijl proceed on to Wellington, at 4 p.m. to-day. Th damag*e is not serious.
