The Agent-General, in a market message dated London, Juue 20th, cables:—
The pvera^f price of Canterbury mutton to-day Is 3|d; Dunedin and Southland, Sjjd; North Island, 3Jd; Australian. .'Sid; River Plate, 2Jd. The mutton market is quiet. Trade for all classes of mutton has been Very slow, and prices were barely maintained The market is over-supplied with heavy carcases, but very few in really prime condition have been marketed lately.
Canterbury lamb, 6*d; brands other than Canterbury, 5Jd. There is a good, demand for all lambs. Many lambs coming forward thi« season are too heavy, and have to be sold as legs at reduced prices. New Zealand hinds, 3fd; fores, 2Jd.
The beef miirket is very dull, and there !s scarcely any demand for fores. Hemp: Good fair Wellington, £25; July to September shipments of Now Zealand hemp, £2:.i; Manila, £31 10/. Heavy shipments are expected from Manila. The market is dull.
There is no alteration in the cocksfoot seed market since last week.
