THAMES TRAINS DELAYED.

As a result of heavy rain at Te Aroha on Suuday night a washout occurred on the line' a short distance from the Paeroa side of Te Aroha. This caused delay of an hour in the running of the Thames service, but it is not thought traffic will be suspended. A repairing gang is at work and the rain has c-eii-st-d.

The gale and rain of Saturday and Sunday last caused much damage, chiefly in slips, on Hokianga Koad, and the damage to the Wairna bridge is serious. The bridge across the Waima at Kaihu is also reported to be damaged. Logs and sawn timber have been carried away. The losses to settlers, more or less, are reported. There was the biggest fresh on 4h« river for many years, , . ;j
