TYPOGRAPHICAL DISPUTE
ARBITRATION COURT AWARD.

The Arbitration Court gave itsj award in the dispute between the Can* terbury Typographical Union an<2 country printing office proprietors. Thq) provisions of the previous award af* fecting Chris tchurch offices were ordered to apply to Timaru, aud the following clauses affected country offices outside Timaru:-* Minimum wage 43/ per week of 4£ hours, piecework 1/ per 1000 ensfc girls or youths not apprenticed tc* start at 5/ per week, and receive! quarterly increases up to 17/6 pcS week; girls or youths apprenticed fojj six years to start at 5/ per week fofl the first year, and finish at 30/ pefl week, the term of apprenticeship tq be for six years; no office to em* ploy more than three apprentices^ overtime to be paid for boys and girls 6d and 9d per hour. No prejudicial distinction to be made against Union* ists. The following provisions applj; to all offices, including Timaru: i Week's work, 48 hours, double pay on; Sunday, Christmas Day and Good Fri* day; pay and a half on other holidays. Overtime, one-third extra. The award takes effect from July Ist, and con* tinues till sth June next. i
