The Imperial Appellate Court Conference met at the Colonial Office, Mr Chamberlain and Lord Halsbury, together with delegates representing Tndia and the Crown law officers, were, present. Mr Chamberlain outlined the Government's proposals. The proceedings were strictly private.
The Peninsular and Orient Company have informed the Board- of Trade that they will not appeal against Mr Justice Matthew's judgment regarding the treatment of Lascar seamen, but will give effectto it as quickly as possible.
In the House of Commons Sir M. Hicks-Beach agreed to a rebate duty on low-priced small coal arid patent fuel, and to abandon £050,000 duty derivable from running coal contracts.. Sixty-seven Unionist members, of the House of Commons have memorialised Mr Balfour to send the Deceased Wife's Sisters Bill before the Grand Committee.
The South Australian Company has presented; a site for the Queen "Victoria Memorial Home, Adelaide.
