SUPREME COURT.
In the matter of the Native Lancl Court Act, 1894, and of an appeal b$ the Hauraki Sawmill Co. from thai decision of the Native Land Court, on an application for confirmation of an alienation of part of Tahanui No. 2, a ease was stated for the opinion of the' Supreme Court yesterday. Mr Earl, instructed by Messrs Miller and Son, appeared to argue the. case for the appellant company. Counsel traced the history of the native land legislation from 3 873 (o IS9_, and quoted ir_ re the Pohatikotiko Block. 17, N.Z. L.R.. 131, aud in re the Whakakoroi Eloek, IS, N.Z.L.R., 097. The point its question was whether a deed of alie-. nation signed by less than the wholflj of the owners of customary land ii. capable of confirmation under th_ Native Land Court Act, 1594. His Honor after hearing argument reserve ed judgment.
