PONSONBY BOWLING CLUB.
The annual meeting- of the Ponsonby Bowling Club was held in the club pavilion last evening. Mr Jas. Stichbury, president, occupied the chair and there was a large attendance.' Mr A. Bartlett, the secretary, read the annual report, which showed the club to be in a satisfactory condition, the membership showing an increase over previous totals. The oreen superintendent (Mr J. J. Payne) had been unremitting- in his attention to the greens, and as he had taken the levels, and procured a supply of top dressing, their condition for the ensuing season should be assured. The receipts for the past year, inclusive of a cash balance of £2 10/6 from the preceding- season, amounted to £193 8/6, and the expenditure to £187 11/1, leaving a credit balance of £5 17/8. The report and accounts were unanimously adopted. The election of officers resulted:—President, Mr E. Ballantyne; A. Littler, senior vice-president; J. E. Dickenson, junior vice-president; A. Bartlett, hon. secretary; Thos. (Jssher, hon. treasurer; committee, Messrs' Newell, Buchanan, J. Court, and J. Blades; auditor, Mr W. J. Eees; green superintendent, Mr JJ. Payne. The president-elect then took the chair, and presented the prizes to the recipients:—Championship singles: A. Littler, a pair of silver mounted-bowls, presented by Mr Jas. Stichbury; A. J. Hurndall, second prize, a case of spoons, presented by Mr J. Court. Championship pairs: Pair of bowls, A. J. Cooper (skip), A. J. I-lurndall (leader), pair of sleeve links (club prize). Handicap singles: Jas. stichbury, club medal. First year players: K. Noton, medal, presented by Mr A. Bartlett; Vie. Langsford 2nd prize, pair of bowls, presented by Mr R Ballantyne. Progressive bowls: Biscuit barrel, R. Ballantyne (skip) second prize, books, J. E. Robinson deader). The election of delegates to the Auckland Bowling Association resulted: Messrs R. Ballantyne, A. Bartlett, D. B. McDonald and Jas. Stichbury. The Match Committee elected were: Messrs Veale, A. Littler, A. Coutts. The following new members were elected: Messrs M. Casey, Griffiths, Payne, T. Gresham, M. Fairs, Gorman, Dyson, B. Elliott. The following were proposed: Messrs p Green and Harry Cooke. Votes of thanks to the ladies for their hospitality during the past season, the outo-oino- officers, the press, and a special "vote of thanks to Mr Jas. Stiehbury as out-going president, and to the chairman, were carried by acclamation. ____^__
