POLICE COURT

(Before Mr H. W. Brabant, S.M.)

Drunkenness. —For this offence two first offenders were convicted and discharged. James Smith, for his third offence within six months, was fined 10/ or 48 hours' in default.

Theft. —A young man named Henry Clark pleaded guilty to a charge of having on or about June 17th, stolen six silver knives and six silver forks, value £2, the property of Henry George Keith. Sergeant Gordon said accused was a waiter at the Star Hotel. Accused was remanded until to-morrow, pending further inquiries.

Vagrancy.—An old infirm roan named Robert Manning was charged with vagrancy, and remanded till the 21st inst., to see whether he could be readmitted to the Costley Home.
