GRAFTON DEFEAT V.M.C.A

The Grafton and V.M.C.A. teams met on the Domain on Saturday, the game being watched by a large number of spectators. Both teams were strong, and as was expected, a hard, fast and exciting- game resulted. Grafton had to concede a corner on starting, but their forwards cleared, and Kober was called upon to stop a shot from Harris. Knott just managed to save a hot shot from G. Totman. Len Clark obtained possession, and after a smart run centred to G. Totman, who scored first blood for V.M.C.A. Grafton's forwards now woke up, and Bradstock, after a tricky bit of play, passed to A. McDougall, who headed through, making the score even. Kober saved another .goal at the expense of his wind.

In the second spell, the play was even faster. V.M.C.A. got the first goal of the spell, and then Brodie made things even by heading a free kick through. Eventually from a nice passing run by McDougall, H. Goldie and Bradstock, the latter shot the winning goal for Grafton, the game ending- —Grafton 3 goals, Y.M. C.A. 2 goalsr Grafton showed superior condition and combination while Y.M.C.A.'s defence was splendid.
