RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION.
Another illustration of the three! I tailors of Tooley-street is presented. by a body self-designated the Rate* payers' Association, which has recent-* ly aspired to become a 1 sort of inter* mediate body" between the iratepa<yfera and the Council. Something* like a; snub has been administered to this body in tlie form of a demand' matte by the city fathers to see their etedentials, constitution, abjects anil number of members. THE NAPIER BREASTWORK, 1 Mr* Sales, Chief Marine Engineer, reports there is no immediate dangers of encroachment of the sea at Napier, THE AUCKLAND' ADDRESS. t Mr S. Lambert, architect, has made good progress with preparation of thd Auckland address. It will be finished; in a few days. Mr Heberley, one of the most sMlful Maori carvers in the colony, is preparing a frame, which measures 4 ft. by 3ft., and consists of totara. T&s carving is most artistic in style^ with Maori symbols, etc. '
