THE BROOKLYN.

Admiral Eemey and the officers of the U.S. flagship Brooklyn were entertained last evening at the residence of Mr and Mrs P. Dillingham (U.S. Consul). The opportunity was taken [to invite a number of American citizens resident in Auckland, as well as ' several visitors to this city, to meetAdmiral Remey and his ofKcers, the function really being of an informal character, although fifty guests were entertained. His Worship the Mayor (Dr. .7. L. Campbell) was also present. The string band from the Brooklyn provided music, and vocal items were contributed by guests, thus making the gathering a thoroughly enjoyable one. VISIT TO WELLINGTON PAKE. At 1.30 o'clock to-day Admiral Remey and a number of the officers of. the Brooklyn accepted an invitation from Air Alfred Kidd (chairman of the Harbour Board) to visit Wellington Park. Mr Kidd had vehicles waiting ai the man-of-war steps at the hour stated, and the party had a pleasant drive to Wellington Parl:. The other guests invited by Mr Kidd were Dr. J. L. Campbell (Mayor), Mr and--Mrs P. Dillingham, Mr Bachelor, Mr G. Dunnett (French Consul), Mr Mrs Goldie,-Messrs H. Nolan, H. Gorrie. W. Percival, J. H. Upton, and iJ. M. Brigham. Mr Goldie, was, how- ; ever, unable to attend. At Wellington Park the visitors were entertained by Mr and Mrs T. Morrin/ . . ■
