Messrs George Thomas and Co. report:— Pears: Very few are coining from New Zealand growing districts, supplies being about exhausted. A sample of good Vicars would now realise 0/ per bushel case. Apples: There has been a gratifying increase In the prices and demand for really good samples of cooking and dessert, and we can strongly suggest shippers in Nelson, Auckland, and Christchurch to continue forwarding regular consignments. Good cooking apples are worth from'o/ up to 5/6; prime quality dessert from 5/ up to (tyO; commoner varieties are certainly in better request than they have been for some time, and realise values say from 4/ to 4/G per ease. It would appear that the outlook for the next two months is exceedingly bright, and seeing that after the 14th July Tasmania will compete, it will be well for New Zealand shippers'to unload their stocks before that date. Cape gooseberries: Supplies have been very large, in fact the demand has been weakened owing to so many coming to hand. Prices to-day are not over 3d per lb. Pie melons: The market is about cleared of these and the nominal value is 2/6 per cwt. Tomatoes: Supplies are now confined to the local farmers; the demand, however, has creatlv slackened, the public seeming to lire of this description of fruit. We sold best half-cases to-day at 4/ to 4/0, fair at 2/6 to 3/' green descriptions only worth from 1/ to 1/4. Tree tomatoes: Small shipments are still arriving and sell ng at 5/ to 6/B case. Potatoes: £3 5/ for prime Canterbury Derwents, £3 for Early Rose and Beauty of Hetfron. Onions hare taken a sudden jump owing to the advance In the Sydney market, and prices are firm o-day at £8 per ton, with an upward tendency Egg- We regret to report that the market teftiil heavily over-supplied with preserved descriptions, and these are exceedingly hard to sel at 1/ down. Prime fresh are now coming in freely and selling at 1/9 per do Z Butter- Good demand for dairy at Sd per and old birds, 2/6 per pair; ducks at 4/ to 4/6; turkeys from 7/ up to 10/ per pa«,.according to quality; but geese are still without inquiry.
