Hours of Lectures: Tuesday and Friday at noon. Instruction in PRACTICAL PHYSICS will be given in the Laboratory at the times mentioned above (vide Chemistry). LECTURES ON BIOLOGY AND GEOLOGY. The following course of .Lectures on Biology will be delivered. Each course occupies one hour per week. Any one course may be taken separately:— 1. GENERAL BlOLOGY—Wednesday. 6—7 p.m. An Elementary Course dealing with the Structure and Physiology of a few leading types of plants and animals, so as to illustrate the Laws of Life. ! 11. JUNIOR BOTANY-Tuesday, 7 to ! S p.m. An Elementary Course, dealing i with the characteristics of Flowering Plants. No previous knowledge of Botany is assumed. 111. SENIOR BOTANY—Monday, 7 to I S p.m. Completes the Course of Bptany : for the B.A. Degree. I IV. ZOOLOGY—Wednesday, 12 to 1 p.m. I Elementary description of the Chief Clas- ! ses of Animals. BIOLOGICAL LABORATORY open on Monday, 2 to 5 p.m.: Wednesday and Friday 6 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students may attend once a weeK or oftener. . Classes will be formed for the practical study of Plants and Animals, use of Microscope, application to Technical Pur-" suits, etc. GEOLOGY LECTURES—Tuesday ana Friday, 5—6 p.m. This course of lectures does not assume any previous knowledge of Geology. It includes the characters I of rocks and minerals, action of air, water, ice, etc., in modifying the surface of the earth, volcanoes, fossils and their uses, geology of New Zealand. THE LABORATORY is open for Study of minerals, rocks, fossils, etc., at the same hours as noted above under Biological Laboratory. MlNlNG—Assistance is given to those who desire to study ores of the metals, rocks, etc.. for the purpose of mining. LECTURES IN MUSIC. DR. W. E. THOMAS will deliver Three Courses of Lectures on the Theory of Music during the ensuing Term. The Lectures will be divided into Junior, Intermediate, and Advanced Classes. Junior Class meets on' Monday, 4 to 5 p.m. (repeated 6 to 7 p.m.); Intcrnjediate on Thursday, % to 4 p.m.; (repeated 7 to 8 p.m.); Advanced, on Friday, 4 to 5 p.m. (repeated G to 7 p.m.) These Lectures are open to all, whether j members of the University or not, on payment of fee of 10/ for each course. CERTIFICATE. The Council have instituted a new Certificate entitling the owner to rank and be called an Associate of the School of Music, testifying that the holder has passed through a regular Musical Curriculum, has acquired a thorough knowledge of the Theory of Music, and has passed the required examinations.
