THE FIREWORKS DISPLAY.
'AN ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME
: fAt a meeting yesterday of the subcommittee appointed to arrange for the fireworks display, Mr. G. Garretttson, representative of Messrs. Pain '& Sons, submitted the following programme for the display, which is to fee exhibited on the eastern tee of the railway wharf: • Salute of loin aerial maroons, fired from steel mortars, giving terrific reports. Grand illumination of the site with Pain's powerful coloured lights, changing colour twice. Ascent of ' three mammoth meteoric Walloons, ascending with dazzling brilliancy, changing as they rise to a spiral formation, leaving in their wake beautiful corruscations which fall to the earth {weather permitting). The polychromatic canopy, produced by the discharge of coloured rockets containing Pain's latest tints and electric isffects. Display of 15in shells—rubies, emeralds, Sapphires, old gold and turquoise. Device: Portrait of the Duke and Duchess, 1200 square feet. Large batteries of coloured saucissons. Discharge of coloured national bombs. Display of newest Pain's Fujiyama rockets, Japanese novelfy. Pain's aerial novelty, "The Southern Cross." Flight of coloured aerolites, disappearing from sight with loud reports. Display of ISm Pain's new combination ■hells—shamrocks. forgret-me-nots, golden tod, etc. Each shell has from three to feix 'distinct effects. Batteries, "Shower of Pearls." ' Nests of fiery cobras. ■Field of the cloth of gold, produced by %he discharge of an' immense shell, exhibiting golden stars emitting glittering spangles. Flight of 31b rockets containing triple parachutes. Ascent of 24in mammoth prismatic "whirlwinds, forming umbrellas of fire in ascent and descent. Display of Pain's 24in Manhattan beach bombs, containing Northern Lierhts. silver corruscations, magnolia blossoms, TOoonlicrhf buttons, etc. Explosion of Sinbad's lewelled cave, filling the air with gems of every hue. Flight of 41b rockets, discharging Pain's hanging chains, which float through space with ever-changing tints. Device: "The Grove of Jewelled Palms.'1 150 ft in length, and reaching to a height Of 60ft. 18in Italian bombettes, a novel combination of pyrotechnic flowers, opening from three to five times. "Pain's Aerial Sleigh Bells," so named by Mark Twain. "Floating Festoons of Ever-changing Lights," being graceful lines of fire, finishing with silver corruscations. "National Streamers," unfolding a thousand feet high our country's emblem. Flight of loin floral bombshells, imitating Flora's Domain. Discharge of golden shower batteries, .With cometic and golden rain effects. Salvoe of 24in Rain's large bombs, with this season's combinations and colour effects. Electric shower mines, with dazzling Shimmering stars. Nests of fiery cobras, filling the air with hissing writhing snakes. Display of Pain's triple-star candles, Emitting cometic starn, 1000 ft high, which breaking into three parts display rea, green, and amber globules. Display of Pain's electric rockets, containing the beautiful electric stars. Revolving cascade bombs, releasing a revolving mechanism with jewelled points. Lyddite shells, being a pyrotechnic facsimile of these modern war projectiles. Fhillippino rockets, opening with azure blue stars, changing to prismatic torrents. Fiery vraggler rockets, with dragon fcffects, twirling and waggling In mid air. Transformation rockets, opening lilac, fcbanging to golden red. Device: King and Queen, 1200 sauare leet. The pyrotechnic harlequinade, produced by, swarms Of gyrating, scorpions,. ._ii,_,.,
Explosion of Pain's Manhattan beach batteries. "The king of batteries." Magical illumination of the site with Pain's pyrotechnic compound. Great silver clouds, introducing Pain's marvellous electric tire, dazzling scintillations of shimmering silver. Grand bouquet of 500 large coloured rockets. "Good Night."
