Mr H. E. Partridge's gallery of Maori portraits, by Lindauar, now open" in the Queen-street premises, is attracting considerable public attention. Mr Partridge has made an important addition to his gallery by purchasing six of Mr Allan Hutchison's Maori studies in relief. These works of an eminent sculptor will shortly be on exhibition at the Lindauer gallery, opposite the Union Bank.
There was a very good attendance at the saie of freehold properties held by Baker Bros, this afternoon. 84ft. Sin., on the corner of New North -Rd. and George-street changed hands at £4 3/6 per foot, Mr Dayies being the buyer. The other properties failed to reach the reserves.
At the Supreme Court this morning His Honor Mr Justice Conolly, in answer to a question by Mr Tole, said that as it appeared that next Friday. May 24th, would be., very generally observed a;s a holiday the Court; Would not sit on that day. __^.._j" .._. _ _
