WAIHI BOROUGH ASSOCIATION.
A public meeting was held in Tanner's Hall to pass the preliminary rules adopted by the committee appointed at a meeting held some weeks ago. Mr P. McGregor was voted to the chair. It was resolved, "That the name of the Society be the Waihi Borough Association." 'me objects are: The incorporation of Waihi as a borough; to conserve the rights and privileges appertaining to and affecting a borough; drainage, lighting, etc.; and other matters. Membership to consist of all electors in proposed borough area, and that a fee of 1/ be imposed; all members to conform with the rules of the Association. The Association to have the power to make a levy of not more than 1/ per month till object of the Association be attained.
It was also resolved that the Association be registered under the Unclassified Societies Act, 1895.
The election of officers resulted as> follow:—President, Mr J. E. Taylor; vice-presidents, Messrs P. McGregor, A. Clarke, W. Phillip, H. M. Haslett, J. W. Graham, W. J. Geddis, M. G. Power, E. H. .tilling, J. Flett, D. Campbell, T. Lawless; secretary, Mr A. Y. Boss; treasurer, Mr J. Flett; working committee, Messrs J. Livesey, W. N. Wallnntt, D. Robinson, J. "S. Nicholson, B. Loane, C. P. Anderson, T. Palmer, J. Kayne, and W. S. Roberts.
Mr Max D. King moved, and it was r>e;?r>lved, "That this Association place on record its appreciation of the efforts of tbe Waihi Improvement Committee during the past."
