In the House of Commons the coal UucAvas carried by :m votes to 227.
Many minors are opposed to a general strike against the tax. A conference of miners' representatives decides the question to-day. The French trans-Atlantic Steamship Company has ordered 120,000 tons of Welsh coal", undertaking to bear the tax. (Received 9.9 a.m.) LONDON, May 7. Mr Thomas Burt, M.P. for Morpeth. presiding at a conference of miners' representatives to discuss.-the proposed general, strike against* the coal tax, counselled caution.
The representatives of the Welsh miners expressed reluctance to precipitate a strike.
