POINT CHEVALIER.
The annual meeting of the householders of the Point Chevalier School District was held at the schoolroom last evening. Mr. Wesley Spragg, the chairman of the outgoing committee, presided. The report which was presented, showed that the
I number of scholars upon The roll is :iio\v !():.'. The average attendance for I the last month had been 170. The J accommodation of the school is taxed ito its utmost, and further extension iwill shortly have to be made. Tim J inspector's report of the work of the school was satisfactory. Several changes had befen made in the teaching- staff during , the year. The present staff is a capable one, and is doing its work effectively, and with, enthusiasm. The practice of periodical visiting by members of the committee had been kept up during the year, with the result of keeping , both teachers and scholars in touch with committee. During the year scientific apparatus had been supplied for the standards. A flagpole and Hag had been provided at v cost of £22, the funds For which were specially collected for that purpose.. The total expenditure for the year had been £G3. The head teacher, Mr. Parry, was complimented upon the condition of the school and the general proficiency of the scholars. The proportion of passes at the examinations in June last was BG.B per cent. The election of a committee for the coming , year resulted in the appointment of Messrs. Wesley Sprang, George Fowlds. A. C. Caii£*bey, Thomas Ashton. A. X. Olesen. J. H. Priestley and J. C? Harrison. At the subsequent committee meeting Mr Wesley Spragg was appointed chairman, and Mr. J, C. Harrison secretary and treasurer.
