PAEROA NOTES.

PAEROA, this day, FUNERAL OF MR LAYCOCK.
The funeral of the late Mr C. Laycock, proprietor of the Puriri Hotel, who died on Saturday morning last, took place yesterday, and was largiely attended. The burial took place in the Shortlaud Cemetery, Thames, and the service was impressively performed by the. Rev. Mr O'Callaghan. Deceased was a member of the Star of Paeroa Lodge of Druids, and the officers of that body attended the funeral, the funeral service of the Order being read by Bro. Searle, A.D. Great sympathy is felt throughout the district for the wife and relatives of deceased, who was only 31 years of age. RUNNING MATCH. A running match for £50 aside has, I understand, been arranged between Peru Nathan, of Dargaville, and A. Leonard, of Te Aroha, two wellknown running men.. The distance iU 75 yards, the race to be run in a ■ month's time. ;. CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW. The Paeroa Chrysanthemum Show next Thursday promises to be a great success, provided the weather is fine. Entries are already coming in from Cambridge and other centres for table decorations, etc., and there is likely to be keen competition in most of the classes.
