1 PLUMER'S SUCCESS
PROJECTED FRESH CAPE INVASION FOILED.
LONDON, April 15,
Reuter states that Colonel Plumer's advance on Pietersburg foiled preparations for another invasion of the Cape Colony. Mr Bennett Btirleigh states that Col. Plumer destroyed the offices used for the production of postage stamps and blue backs, but the hand press used for printing them was gone. Commandant Beyers has mustered a thousand Boers at Haenertsburg, 30 miles east of Pietersburg, and mounted a Long Tom. The gaols in the Northern Transvaal are filled with. recalcitrant Boers. Ex-President Steyn is atFahaksberg. His health is broken and it is believed he advised the commandos to surrender. Schalk Burger is at Tolesburg, near Jliddleburg-.
Vorsters, the self-appointed chief commandant, has gone to Spelonken, further to the eastward.
