The death of Mr 3>avid Porter, of the land and Survey Department, Wellington, at the ripe age of 73 years, is announced. He came to Jfew Zealand in the. Cressy, one* of the first four ships that came to Port Lytteltpn, and served with distinction in the MadrJ' War as captain of the Waagunni militia. i
