COOK'S JOKE.
A lady in town here who believes in very plain fare for her servants has a rule that nothing that comes from the dining-room is to be used at the t ,, r , servants' table. Kemains of pies, etc., are sent in time after time, and often. ' ; kept till they go wrong, and then , have to be thrown away. * .'; This lady had a cook who was a bit , of a wag, and one duy in a temper" she set the remains of a fowl on the v bottom step of the stairs leading up , '■>. to the dining-room, and said to it, .• "There ye are! Rin awa 1 up the stair. Ye've been carried often enough. Ye , micht ken the road yersel by thi* time."
