£502 FROM 85 TONS. In the New Four-in-Hahd mine development work' on the southern portion has, been carried on during the month. The rise on the reef bet\v\xt Nos. 1 and 2 levels is now through to the mouth of No, 1 level, the reel for ■ the last 20 feet.averaging 4 feet of , quartz,-where gold was freely seen at every breaking down. Driving on the reef in the intermediate level has been extended to a distance of 140 feet, the reef keeping its usual size and showing gold freely. Stoping has been continued in Nos. 1 and 2 blocks, and the quartz obtained has been of the usual average value. Work on the Tainui section of the property has been con- ■ tinued, the drive on reef extended 30 feet, and on breaking down the quartz a good taii of gold is seen in the dish. The battery has crushed and treated ; for the month..Bs tons of ore, yielding 1740z 15dwt of melted god, value ( £2 17/6 per oz: total, £502 8/1.
