WANGANUI, Friday

At the band contest the marching competition was witnessed by a large crowd. The results are: Wanganui Garrison, music *76, marching, 2SB, total 354; Woodville, music 66, marching 269, total, 335; New Plymouth, music 66, marching 265, total 288, total 364; Woodville, music 66, marching" 259, total 325; Masterton, music 74, marching 248, total 322; Petone, music 75, marching 244, total 319. The contest concluded to-night. The results Of the championships are: Wanganui, 357; Masterton (disqualified), 355; Petone, 317; New Plymouth, 30C; Palmei-ston North, 305; Woodville, 288. A great crowd gathered at the Opera House, and the contest was altogether most successful.
