THE FEDERAL NOMINATIONS
ADELAIDE, March 4,
The Federal nominations closed today. Eleven were received for the Senate, including four members of the State Assembly and six of the Council, amongst whom are:—Messrs. T. Playford, D. Charleston, G. McGregor, Sir J. H. Symon, Sir R. C. Baker, and Sir J. W. Downer.i Seventeen nominations were received for the House, including Messrs. Holder-Batchelor (Minister for Education), Sir W. L. Bony thorn c, and five other members of the Assembly. THE COLOURED LABOUR QUESTION. BRISBANE, March 4. The Chamber of Commerce discussed Mr Barton's attitude with regard to coloured labour, and adopted resolutions in favour of asking the Federal Premier to appoint a Royal Commission to inquire into the sugar and other tropical industries before any legislation was introduced dealing with coloured labour. :
