The Canterbury Agricultural College ut Lincoln continues to do good work. Lectures this year commence on March 11th, and students are now being enrolled. A meeting of naval and military veterans was held last evening at the residence of Mr. A. 11. Hitehens, Sy-monds-street, for the purpose of forming a Veterans' Association. Warrant Officer Lecky presided, and there were some fifty or sixty present. A resolution was. carried in favour of forming a Naval and Military Veterans' Association. Captain Slattery was elected president, and Sergeant Hutchinson (6Sth Regiment) secretary pro tern. Over fifty gave in their names for membership, and a meeting will be held shortly in the Wesley Hall. •The "Labour Journal" of Feb. 18 reports under the heading "The Labour Market": —Auckland: Building trades still fairly brisk. Engineering trades steady. Good workmen in full employment. Boot trade dull. Employers report that the market is stocked with imported goods, chiefly American- Clothing trade: Factories starting very brisk. Order tailoring quiet. Retail trade (general) all round fairly good. Unskilled labour: Although a large number of men were sent to work there axe still applicants ' arriving, many unsuitable for country work. Paeroa: Building trades brisk. Carpenters in demand. lletail trade (general) very good. Miscellaneous: Blacksmiths in demand. Coach and waggon building good. Coach painting fairly good. Mining- developing freely; all miuers in district employed. Unskilled labour: A large number of men have been assisted to Government and private work, and at present there are no unemployed in the district.
