The Conciliation Board gave it*} award to-day in the drivers" dispute, recommending ~>G hours a week for tram drivers at 10d per hour. Scavengers and dustmen are to receive £2 5/ per week; rubbish and refuse drivers £2 S/; two-horse lorries £3 8/; oneho_,se lorries £2 ti/G; coal .delivery; drivers £2 4/, or' £2 8/ where the weight of the bag exceeds lcwt; : casual drivers a minimum of 1/ per, hour. Attending horses in the stable is to be deemed a necessary work, and not to be paid as overtime. Compulsory Work- on Sunday is to be paid at double rates, overtime to be paid time and a quarter for the first two hours, time and a-halt for additional hours. payment for holidays is fixed at timeand a-half for compulsory work there* on. Preference is given to unionists. The secretary of the Drivers' Union expressed his disapproval, of. . the. award. , .
The Postal Department is advised; that the R.M.S. Ventura left 'Friscoj on 14th inst., fourteen hours late.
