WELLINGTON NOTES.
(By Telegraph.—.Own Correspondent.)
WELLINGTON, this day. OVER-VALUATION OF IMPORTS
Public attention is being drawn to a practice prevalent in Wellington of over-valuing exports, especially wool, owing principally, it is alleged, to the carelessness of clerks, merchants, and shipping agents. If. a protest is made by the Customs against overvaluation, shippers plead the superior quality of the exports, the Customs officer being unable to disprove the assertion. It is suggested the matter should be referred to the Chamber of Commerce. THE UNIVERSITY SENATE. Dr. FindlayJ who is a passenger with Robt. Stout to Auckland, is mentioned as a probable successor to Dr. Milne of the New Zealand .University Senate, resigned.
