THE THIED DAY'S RACING.

WELLINGTON, Saturday,
Perhaps never in the history of racing in Wellington was a day's racing conducted under more disagreeable circumstances than to-day. A fierce southerly gale blew, with accompanying heavy showers of rain, and at times n violent hailstorm swept over the course. Notwithstanding the handful of people present, speculation was brisk, and £7003 was put tlrrough the machines, making 'fi34.153 for the meeting, as against '£20,743 for last year's summer meetIng, when the club only raced on two days. The results of the late events are ns follows: — Pert Nicholson Handicap.—Paladin
1, Ideal 2, Sirius 3. All started but Skobelofii. A grand race was won; under the whip by a length. Time,: 1.49 4-5. Dividend £5 15/. : Fitzherbert Handicap.—Melwood 1, Canteen :!, Menura ',',. Scratched: Cruciform. Canteen led for live furlong's, when Melwood challenged and won comfortably' by a length. Time, 1.23. Dividend £ 1 13/; Pencarrow Welter Handicap. — Cadet 1, Proposal 2, Hotn 3. Scratched: Strathnairn, Whitirea, and Donovan. Won by two lengths. Time, 2.9. Dividend £7 10/.
Zealandia Plate.—Boreas 1, Tortulla
2. These were the only starters. Won by a length. Both being- in the one stable, the machine was not opened. Time 2.311.
Hack Disposal Handicap of "Osovs. Six furlongs: Xorine 1, Eata 2^ Blackwing 3. Also started: Bulrush and Bowiield. Won by two lengths. Time, lm 255. Dividend, £5 5/. The winner was sold for £51.
Federal Handicap of loOsots. Five furlongs: Full Cry 1, Hermosa 2, St. Denis 3. Also started: Cora Linn. Chasseur, Ostiak, Autahi, Lady Agnes, Westguard, Hiamoe. Full Cry won rather comfortably by a length. Time, lm 7 4-ss. Dividend, £6 1/.
