] In addition to special services in thej 'churches, a monster memorial service* I was held in the afternoon in the 80-| Itanical Gardens, at the invitation off I the Mayor, clergy of several deno-| ! munitions taking part, including the i Revs. Kempthorne and Snee (Anglijcans), J. H. Mackenzie (Presbyterian), 'j. S. Smalley (Methodist), Clapham j (Church of Christ), and Dean Maphoney (Roman Catholic). The lastl mentioned in his address said the Ifourteen million British Catholics en- ! joyed larger religions liberty than \ those of any other country under the i Queen, who was now in heaven, ! where they all hoped to be. There fvvere about 5000 at the service. Hymns hvere sung, and the "Dead March" was | played by the band. At the concluj sion "God Save the King" was sung.
