DEATH OF A NEW ZEALANDER.
Another Auckland boy has been added to the list of heroes who have died for the Empire in South Africa. This time ii is St. John's College that has to mourn Ihe loss of one educated in thai institution. Mr Jftnies Buchanan, of the A.M.P. Society, to-day received a telegram from the Actingi'rcniier, linn. ■). (I. Ward, stating1 that Sir Alfred Milner had cabled that Serjeant Stanley Douglas Chapman of the Caffrariai'i Horse had died of enteric fever in the Hospital aMCronnsladf. The deceased was a I'onsonby hoy. and for several years was employed at -Mi- Craves Ait-kin's, establishment; Queen-street. Servant Chapman was too late to join fne Kil'ili Contingent so lie went to Africa on his own account and was enrolled in the Catrrarian Horse. His last letter slated he was almost better and was returning to the front, so it is most probable 1 hat getting out too soon he had a relapse, which. terminated his life at the early age of 22 years. The deceased was the brother of Mrs J. Buchanau, of Ponsonby..
