ARRANGEMENTS FOX THE SEND-

OF!

Tim Auckland division of i lie Sixih Contingent were reviewed in the Outer Domain on Saturday afternoon by I. ieut. -Colonel White, officer .commandingl the district. The surrounding slopes were thronged with, spectators, who evinced a, lively interest in the proceedings. Captain Keid, District Adjutant, acted as start" officer, while Captain Murkham commanded the company. The men paraded in full marching1 kit, but without arms, which they will not receive till reaching Sou 111 Africa. After the inspecton the troops marched past the reviewing officer, and were then divided into four sections, each of which was drilled separately by the imperial instructors. The men did their work well, and showed that the constant drilling- of the past week or two had had its effect. After drill the troops were formed up in a hollow square, and were addressed by Lieut-Colonel White, who expressed great pleasure at the way in which they had gone through the various manoeuvres.' He gave special praise to Xo. 2 Company for its steadiness in the march past, and he was particularly pleased with the extended work, which the men went

about in a way that showed they had paid attention to their instructors. Colonel YVhile urged the necessity for good marksmanship, and strict obedience, the two essentials for efficiency, and also laid stress on the importance of paying attention to Hie small details of the work. In saying good-bye to the men, he bade them remember that they were Auckland men. and under an Auckland officer, and (rusted they would do credit to the district which they represented.

During the manoeuvres on Saturday afternoon Trooper .7. Connor met with ii bad fall from his horse, which reared and fell back on him. lie sustained a slight -concussion .of the brain, but was able to walk with assistance, to the Central Mission Tent, where he was attended to by -members of the Ambulance Corps, and afterwards by Dr. King. Connor was about again yesterday, and will, it is expected, be able to depart with the contingent tomorrow. The Auckland division attended divine service at Si. Mary's Cathedral yesterday jnorning. The camp at the Domain was crowded with visitors during the afternoon.
