WELLINGTON SUMMER MEETING. SECOND DAY.

WELLINGTON, Friday

For the Wellington Racing Club's Summer Meeting second day the weather was line until the conclusion of the last race, when steady rain set in. The attendance was limited, not more than 2000 being present. £10,437 was put through the totalisator to-day, making- £27,180 for the two days, as against £29,743 for the two days of the summer meeting last year. The results of the later events are as follow:—

Wellington Racing Club Handicap.— Boreas (Jenkins),- 1; Matoroa (Holmes). 2: Palaver (Neaie), .'{. Scratched: Ideal and Proposal. Palaver and Mntcroa were in front to the turn, where C'oeur de Lion was third, and Renown next. Rounding the bend, Boreas came with a splendid run ami won by a length. Time, 2.12. Dividend, £9 10/.

Juvenile Handicap.—Windwhistle 1, Rere 2. Destroyer 3. All started. A splendid race. Won by a neck. Time, 1.18 3-us. Dividend, £5 4/.

Welter Handicap of lOOsovs, seven furlongs.—First Blood. 1: Lnurestina, 2; Paphos. 3. First Blood gained 'the verdict by barely a length, Paphos being a neck behind Laurestina. Time. 1.33 2-a. Dividend. £22 13/.

Wellington Stakes of 300sovs. for two and three year olds. Five furlongs.— Mensehikoff, 1; Cruciform, 2: Apres. 3. Also started: Indian Queen. Menschikon": won by half a dozen lengths. When 50yds from home Indian Queen fell over a dog. and her jockey (A. Neale) was severely shaken. Time. 1.3 J. Dividend, £1 4/. Metropolitan Handicap of 200snvs, six furlongs.—Blazer, 1; Phooka, 2; Melwood, 3 Also started: Oinsro, Formosan. Okoari, The Shannon, Ostiak. Hermosa, Magnificent. Blazer won by nearly a length from Phooka, who was a neck ahead oi Melwood. Oingo was fourth. Time, 1.17. Dividend. £4 9/. Second Hack Plandieap of SO soys., one mile.-Dartmoor, 1: Waterford, 2; Ngratahuia 3. Also started: Conspirer, Sir Redvers. Dewdrop. Ngaio Artisan Art Jewel. Dartmoor squeezed home )> a short head. Time, 1.46. Dividend, £3 4/.
