CRICKET.

' Mr G. H. Broughton, the lion, secretary of the Auckland Cricket Association, left for Gisborne to-day on a three weeks' holiday. Dining his absence Mr E. J. G. F. Greville, the hon. treasurer, will act as secretary. At a meeting- of the Auckland Cricket Association last evening Mr F. J. Ohlson, manager of the Auckland representative cricket team which recently visited the principal centres of the colony, presented his report of the tour. He regretted that the result was not more satisfactory, yet it should be pointed out that the •unusually bad weather experienced, and the fact that the trip was hurried, giving the players little or no time to recruit before engaging in the tests, must of necessity in no small degree account for the poor form shown by most of the representatives. After detailing the operations of the tour, the report concluded as follows:—The thanks of the Association are due particularly to Messrs C. R, Smith, J. Fisher, J. Baker (Otago), F. C. Raphael, E. Barry {Christchurch), J. Ilyams, C. S. Levers '(Wellington), and 11. Williams, H. B. tusk, and Ludwig (Hawke's Bay) for ■their kindness and attention to the fteam, all doing their utmost to make [the visit most' enjoyable, and also to ■Mr J. R. Lunuon, who acted in the capacity of umpire on the tour, and /who, by his prompt decisions, gave general satisfaction to all concerned. In conclusion, the management would suggest that in future' it would be advisable, and greatly to the interest cf the travelling team, for it to be allowed two days at each centre before the start of the match, otherwise the chances of success are materially lessened. / ;i
