I ♦ s 1 Mr H. TV. Brabant, S.M., presided ■jover a short sitting of the Police jjCoiirt to-day. The majority of the leases on the sheet were adjourned in iconsequenee of the death of the Queen, j |For drunkenness an old woman named Mary Alexander was sentenced to seven clays' hard labour, it toeing- her third offence this week. Thomas Barrett and John Henry Rowe were remanded till February Ist on a charge of assaulting Henry Rust with intent to rob him. Christian Larsen, charged with drunkenness and with resisting Constable Payne in the execution of his duty, was discharged with a caution. Ilawene Tawa, on a charge of murdering his wife, was- further remanded till February Ist. Cecilia Rowe. charged with having- on I)ecermber 31st attempted to commit suicide by taking laudanum, was discharged on her son entering into a bond for her good behaviour in future. William Moisley'was charged with breaking into the yacht Heartsease and stealing' £10 worth of effects, also with breaking into >the yacht Kotiri and stealing £9 worth of effects. A similar charge in respect of the yacht Tawera was preferred against Frederick Deason, and both he and Moisley were further charged with vagrancy. All'the cases were remanded till February Ist. Sydney F. Woodroffe and Joseph McKiuney were each fined 10/ and costs for cycling on .the footpath in New North Road.
