Authority was given by the Council for the despatch by the Town Clerk of the following cable to the Secretary of State for the Colonies: "The Council and citizens of Wellington deeply regret the sad news received of the death of our beloved Queen " A Government proclamation, issued to-night, appoints tp-morrow (Thursday) to be a day of mourning, and relieves Government from duty Hon Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
