Mr Hogarth, manager "of the Monow;vi (iold Mines, Ltd., has received from the Snlphine Corporation, Cockle Creek, N.S.W., returns for the. parcel of concentrates recently shinned there
for treatment. A parcel of 'M tons G ewt of concentrates was treated. from which 1 ton 12 ewt was deducted for moisture, bags, etc. leaving' 34 tons 14 ewt. which produced £428 .14/1, Ihe value per ton being :C 14 13/1. This is made up a.« follows: —(<oUt, £10 30/8: silver, £2 Ki/5; lead, XI ''.)/. From I'll is tfross total was deducted, smelting' charges .i; 1 7/0 per ton, penalty for zinc .€l, total £'i 7/(5, lens ])remium for iron 3/0, total £2 6/. leaving net value per ton £12 7/1. The freight, railage, and assaying- on parcel amounted to £23 9/3, giving a net return to the Monowai Co. of .£4ol] 4/10. The new water race is now completed. Work at the mine is in full s\vin»-, 32 men being1 constantly employed.
