YESTEEDAY.

By-Law Cases. —Samuel Cammick was fined 10/, and costs 7/, for driving a vehicle at other than a walkingpace round the corner of. Khyber Pass Road and Symonds straut. A similar fine was imposed on William Hawkins for a similar offence. For leaving a horse unattended in Market Square. Thos. Stoddard was fined 5/, and 7/ costs.
Maintenance. —Ernest Mason consented to an order for 6/ per week for- the maintenance of his illegitimate child. ■
Parker v. Parker.—Further evidence in this case was heard yesterday afternoon.—Mabel Parker, a sister of defendant, deposed that she heard Mrs Parker tell her little girl to tell Mr Baume that her father said he would murder her if she did not go and bring her mother back, the also heard Mrs Parker say she would swear anything to get a Reparation. Mrs Parker had stated to witness that her husband had not been cruel to her.—Mr Greg-ory admitted that defendant had been foolish, bat he > denied cruelty. His client Was quite prepared to receive his wife at home again.—On the suggestion of His Worship the case was adjourned tih Saturday in the hope of a settlement being come to between the putv ties. l
THIS DAY.
(Before Mr T. Hutchison--S.M.) Alleged Murder.—A Maori named Rawiri Tana was charged witll having murdered his wife at Miranda on the 29th of December. Accused was remanded to Mercer. Mr Tbeo. Cooper appeared for the prisoner. Threatening' Behaviour. — Sidney Mahoney was fined £1, with 7/ costs, for having used threatening behaviour in Wyndham-street. Drunkenness.^-For this offence four first offenders were convicted and discharged. Assault. — t?oger Ltiptoh was charged with assault, on the information of Walter Young. Mr. Keed appeared for complainant, and Mr. Pilkington for defendant. The prosecution was to the effect that Lupton came into complainant's shop, and, after using very abusive language, i threatened to kill Young, and caught him by the moustache. Defendant denied the assault and the language. After a good deal of evidence had been Beard Sis' #.6rship cortvicted Lupton, and.fined hiim 40/ and costs, or two weeks!' imprisonment iri default, and ordered him to find one surety of £20 that he would keep the peace. . . .
