The Waiheke annual regatta was held at Cowes Bay yesterday, passing- off very The steamers Wakatert: ..mil Terranora went down to the island irom Auckland, having between them about 2UOO excursionists on board. Aboui sixty yachts and many smaller craft were anchored in the bay. Mr O. Harris' oil.aunch Queen of Beauty was flagship. The weather was very favourable, a westerly breeze suiting the course for the yacht races. Tlie.se wore sailed under Lhe auspices of the A.V.C., Mr G. ii. Bellamy being starter and . timekeeper, Messrs S. E. Chatiiold and R. R. Maselield being handleappors, while ViceCommodore C. P. Murdoch was in charge. Yacht Race for A.Y,C. Boats. Course: From mark-boat off N.S.S. Co.'s Whart round mark-boat at south end of passage, thence round Ruthe's Island, BhajT Rock, and Rabbit Island, through Gray's Passage, back .to starting lino; once round.—Thelma, scratch, 1; Mama, 24m, 2;_ Kotiri,' 9m, 3. The Thelma drew away from the others and finished at 12.S p.m., Matua passing the line at 12.33:j, and the Kotiri at 12.33. The others finished in the following order: Ida (srn), IU.JiiA; Thetis (Tm), 12.22; Rarere (12m), 12.29; Mizpah (12m), 12.33; Mahaki (Mm), 12.38?=; Niobe (30m), 32.^55: Pandora (30m), 12.55 i. Speedwell (24m) did not finish.
Yacht Race for non-A.Y.C. Boats, same course.—Amua, lm, 1. Peri. Bulalie, Ofa, Flora, Waimarie, and Lomn also started, but 'Went away on the first gun instead of the second, and wore out of the race, the Amua winning;.
Waiheke Settlers' Yacht Race. Course: From the mark off the wharf to end mark-boat off Ruthe's Island, round Frenchman's Cap, and back to starting line.—Kelly Brothers' yacht, Irn, 1; Day's yacht, scratch, 2; Dr. Moir's yacht, 2m. ',',. These were the only starters. The winner passed the line 3 minutes ahead of scratch boat. Dr. Moir's yacht being' three and a-half minutes later.
Patiki Race.—Rambler, Rita, Kangaroo, and Zoo entered, but were" all disqualified for starting o»i the first gun.
Waiheke Settlers' Pair-oar Race.— Gray Brothers were the only entrants. Ladies' Singles.—Miss Gordon tyeat Miss Rutlie. the only other entrant.
Yacht Dingey Race—V. Masefield (Thetis). 1; C. Smith (Mizpah). 2: Adams (Mayhnlle). 3. There 'were seven starters. La^'ps' Doubles.—Misses Day 1, Misses Stone nncl Aickin 2. Punt Race.—Messrs Parria and Gray 1. Tub Race.—Sands 1. Bailoy 2. Water Tournament.—Sands 1, "Winthorpe 2. Greasy Boom.— Harp 1. Saunders 2. Cigar and Umbrella Race.—Bailey 1.
