S YDA'EY, December 28.

A cable has been received by Lord Ilopeloun from the .Marquis of Tullibardine to be distributed amongst the. various Governments, stating that South Africa is raising a. regiment 01. Scottish Horse, and asking if Australia can send 150 Scotchmen, who will be supplied with horses, saddles and rifles on arrival at their destination. They must start within a fortnight for Durban, and will be paid at the rate of '>/ a day for private?, with a six months' engagement if they wish, and to be dismissed at Johannesburg. They can appoint their own officers.
