MARKET REPORT.
Horses were more plentiful than on the previous week. An increased number were submitted at the Durham Yards on Friday and most of them changed hands. We quote: Heavy draughts at from £17 to £29 10/; medium do., £17 5/ to £25 12/8; light harness, £5- 17/6 to £15 12/6; hacks, £3 15/ to £15 12/6.
Cattle: Owing to Tuesday being Christmas Day we held our usual weekly sale at the Junction Yards on Monday. Stock of all descriptions were yarded in less numbers than usual: Prime quality sold at slightly improved rates, but other sorts showed no improvement. Oxen sold at from 19/ to 21/ per lOOlbs; cows, 16/ to 18/ Steers' ranged from £5 5/ to £9 17/6; cows, £3 5/ to" £6 17/6. Dairy cows sold at from £3 10/ to £6 10/. Sheep were yarded in less numbers than usual at the junction Yards on Monday, and sold at late rates. Wethers brought from 9/0 to la/9; ewes, 8/9 to 13/6. Lambs, short of supply, sold well at from 6/6 ro 14/9 Pigs: Porkers sold at from 17/ to 23/; weaners, 5/3 to 9/9. At Tuakau on Thursday there was an average muster. Newmarket rates ruled.
