THE HON. J.G. WARD.
This morning the Hon. J. G. Ward," Postmaster-General and Minister ot -■ Railways, left by train for the Wai-; kato; intending to be present for afwhile at the Mercer Regatta, and ajso' to pay a short visit to Hamilton. He . returns this evening. On Thursday' evening next Mr Ward will* deliver a > speech in the Opera House. Yesterday ■-, -, afternoon Mr Ward visited the Colonial Sugar Co.'s works at Chelsea. , Earlier in the day, after visiting the. Colonial Ammunition Cp.!s factory, Mr Ward and party drove out to the resK dence of Mr Allen Hutchinson, the eminent English sculptor, who is atpresent here, at Mt. Roskill, and inspected the bust and model for the proposed statue of Sir George Grey.' Mr Ward and all the party were exceedingly pleased with the excellence of the likeness and the high artistic merit of the bust and the figure pose. '_ Mr Ward was very favourably impressed with Mr Hutchinson's work. The Government provide £1000 of the money for the statue, and no dotlbt . decision will be shortly come to in Welington on the matter of the e_e- ; cution of the work. ___________
