HARBOUR BOARD.
WORKS ASiJ TARIFF COMMITTEE
The ordinary meeting of the Works and Tariff Committee of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon, Mr. J. H. Witheford presiding. There wore also present: Messrs. J. T. Julian, Stichbury, A. Alison, C. C. Dacre, Xiccol and Harris.
Cattle-landing.—The engineer reported that he considered it inadvisable to interfere with the . traffic at the Railway Wharf by erecting- a cattle landing there, and suggested that the matter be deferred for a fortnight to allow inquiries to be made. The erection of a cattle landing at Orakei was suggested by a member of the committee, and Mr. Stichbury suggested the enlargement of the Railway Wharf for the purpose. Eventually it was decided to postpone the matter for a fortnight, to enable Mr. Witheford to make inquiries into the matter.
Admiralty House. —The sub-commit-tee recommended that Mr. Loweish's plans for Admiralty House be accepted, provided the cost did.not exceed £4000. Recommendation adopted.
Explosive's Hulk.—The offer of Mr. Hodgson for carriage to and from the explosive's hulk was accepted.
