BOATING FATALITY.

WELLINGTON, Monday

A boat containing five men from Petone capsized off lvaiwarra to-night. Two of the four rescued are in a dangerous state from exhaustion. The fifth man is missing. His name has not vet been ascertained.

The young man drowned in the harbour last night was W. H. Piper, 22 years of age, son of a Petone tinsmith. The party were rowing from the city to • Petone in a four-oared boat just brought from the South for a newly formed rowing club. The boat took in water through' a. leak and sank beneath them.
