AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.

The.annual general meeting of the 'Auckland Stock Exchange was held at noon to-day,' there being a good attendance of members. Mr. J. Mowbray, retiring chairman, presided, and in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet stated that during the year nine new companies had been placed on the list, and that other companies were in process of formation. Two new members joined the Exchange during the-year. Of the £5 5/ each payable during 1900 only £1 had been called up by the secretary, and of this sum £21 was devoted to the Indian Famine Fund. The Chairman referred to the work of the secretary, Mr. A. Oldham, in very complimentary terms, and stated that matters had gone smoothly # and pleasantly during.the year. The future prospects of mining had much improved. The report .and., balance-sheet were then adopted, the balance-sheet showing the funds of the Exchange to be in a healthy condition. The following officers were then elected for the ensuing year: Chairman, Mr. G. A. Buttle; vice-chairman, Mr. Robert Frater; committee, Messrs. J Mdwbrav, D. B. McDonald, J. Ruddick, T. Hill and S. C. Mackay; auditor/Mr. W. G. Knight; secretary and treasurer, Mr. Alfred Oldham.
