The committee of the Baden-Powell Testimonial having submitted the competitive designs to several independent gentlemen of artistic note, have endorsed their unanimous opinion, and have so far resolved that the desig-n by Mr Prince, with certain detail alterations, be adopted. This design is unique and of high artistic merit, and the committee are confident their efforts to obtain the best article will be endorse# and appreciated. Messrs E. Payton and C. ¥. Goldie have been asked to mve the secretary their advice so that the artistic details of the work may be satisfactorily carried out, and as soon as the design is definitely settled a description will be published. We are informed that the office of Rural Dean has been revived by the Bishop in the Anglican Diocese of Auckland, to aid two of the Archdeacons in their work. The Deaneries are those of Papakura and New Plymouth, and the Deans are respectively the Rev. 0. R. Hewlett of Papakura, and the Rev. F. G. Evans of St. Mary's, New Plymouth. The office of Rural Dean is of great antiquity in the church.
